PromptTimer

PromptTimer turns an iPhone or iPad into a big, easy-to-read countdown for presenters, teleprompter operators and anyone filming themselves. A second iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch works as the remote, so whoever is keeping time can start, stop and adjust the clock from across the room.

The two devices connect directly to each other, the same way AirDrop does, so it needs no Wi-Fi, no account and no server. The timer counts down or up, turns red and keeps counting once you run over, and can be mirrored for use behind teleprompter glass. It also has a Camera mode that films you on the front camera with the countdown on screen. The saved video never shows the timer, and a short count-in makes sure the 3-2-1 never ends up in the clip.

The app is built in SwiftUI and uses MultipeerConnectivity for device-to-device control. It comes with an Apple Watch companion app, uses AVFoundation for video and audio capture with a live mic level meter, and offers Camera mode as a one-off StoreKit 2 in-app purchase. It uses Firebase Analytics without any ad tracking.
